Estes Park Embraces the Holidays with Festive Cheer |
Community Gathers for Seasonal Celebrations and Upcoming Events |
Howdy, neighbors. Buck Timber here, still shaking off the Thanksgiving hangover and pondering just how many consecutive days of mashed potatoes it takes before it becomes a defining characteristic.
If you ventured out for the Catch the Glow Parade last Friday, I trust you found a cozy spot along Elkhorn Avenue and perhaps even caught a glimpse of the handcrafted floats. Mo Pass swears he saw Santa wink at him; I suggested it might've been the wind playing tricks on his eyelashes.
Now that the turkey-induced haze has lifted, Estes Park is diving headfirst into the holiday season. Lights are twinkling, cookies are mysteriously disappearing, and the town's calendar is filling up faster than Trail Ridge Road closes in October.
One of the highlights this December is the inaugural Sleigh the Games - Holiday Adventure Fest, set to take place from December 12 to 14 at the Estes Park Events Complex. This event promises over a dozen winter-themed games, including indoor snow tubing, team sled pull races, and human curling. In between the games, attendees can enjoy live bands, winter cocktails, and a variety of food trucks. It's a fresh addition to our holiday lineup, aiming to provide fun for both adults and families.
For those who appreciate the beauty of the season, the Festival of Trees is ongoing at the Estes Park Resort until December 14. This event features 50 beautifully decorated trees, each with its unique style, transforming the venue into a winter wonderland. Guests can participate in raffles for a chance to win select trees, and there are coloring contests for the little ones. Admission is free, and proceeds benefit the charitable works of Estes Park Quota.
Music lovers won't want to miss the Holiday Sing-Along at the Museum on December 6. Gather at the Lula Dorsey Museum for a morning filled with holiday songs and cheer. All are welcome, and no sign-up is required.
As the days grow shorter and the nights colder, our community's warmth shines through these events. Whether you're participating in the games, admiring the decorated trees, or singing along to holiday tunes, there's something for everyone to enjoy this season in Estes Park.
So, bundle up, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and immerse yourself in the festive spirit that makes our town so special during the holidays. |
